To suppose with out observing may not be to enhance dramatically, if at all, using one’s thoughts. One final matter standing in need of treatment is contextualism about data attributions, in accordance with which the word “knows” and its cognates are context-sensitive. The relationship between contextualism and the analysis of information is not at all simple. Nevertheless, the methodology of theorizing about information may be helpfully knowledgeable by semantic concerns about the language in which such theorizing takes place. And if contextualism is correct, then a theorist of knowledge should attend carefully to the potential for ambiguity. One outstanding strategy to information in this vein is discussed in §11below.
